Description:
I need some oyster pots. The wire mesh will be 1/2" and the sides and center support will be made out of plywood. The mesh will be plastic coated steel from Riverdale Mills (1/2" center to center). Cage will be a cylinder with a 12" radius and a length of 4 feet. There will be a 3/4" rod passing through the center. Unlike other cages, one end will open for loading and unloading the oysters. Seetheoysterguy.comfaq pdf for an idea of what I am looking for. Also see attached picture. I have come up with one idea for closing the ends, but any other ideas will be appreciated. The parts will be cut out of 1/4" plywood and cut out on a cnc machine (shopbot). Parts will then be coated in epoxy to make them waterproof. I want ease of assembly. Notches to align wire mesh. Longitudal arms should notch into center piece and have tabs to align outer ends. There should be hole in the sides to allow for waterflow and leverage when closing and opening one end.

Simplicity and a good end cap solution.3d model with only a short section of wire mesh to illustrate notches. Layout for cutting on sheet of plywood.
