Description:
We are looking for CAD designs for coverings for prosthetic legs. The products are generally around 450mm tall, with a proportional width similar to human dimensions.We are specifically looking for interesting aesthetic designs.
We are open to any type of style, but it should be designed to be structurally sound. It will not have to bear weight, but will have to stand up to bumps and knocks. The final print material has not been specified, but you should assume it is an FDM print.
Your design should include some method of attaching the cover to the prosthetic.
The product will be printed in a single colour so if your design has multiple colours it will need to designed in such a way that it's easy to paint the required parts.
We intend to create a range of covers so there may be ongoing work for the successful designer(s)
You should supply us with a CAD file, ready for us to setup in Grasshopper for parametric modelling.

需要考虑到额外的改进dered for most designs above ('including some of mine) would be, a way of prevent rotation and slipping around the pylon when the prosthetic cover is knocked. I have a simple solution that would work with several of the proposed designs with a clamp like design rather than a rubber band, if you are interested. Once you have chosen your design, I would be happy to share the idea, regardless of who you chose to win.

You should size for standard European/American dimensions. The cover will be scaled for different individuals.

HI. In which country are you aiming to sell the product? If we get to know the anthropometry and percentile of body measurements, it will be easy for us to design. For a person with a height of 175cm, prosthetic cover of 450mm will cover his knee region too.

Manufacturing process not yet confirmed. Most likely will be FDM, but possible we could go with SLS. If FDM, we would like tolerances to be wide to allow for wider nozzle, but will to compromise for the right design. Printing with two nozzle sizes is also a possibility to allow for finer detail on closures. Perhaps submit two versions, one with fine tolerance, and one with wide?

The length of the pylon and distance from knee is dictated by how much of the leg remains, so will be different in every case.
Generally, I would say the pylon will be at least 100mm long.

Trying to design a reliable fixing method. I have something in mind I am working on, but just need to know a little more about the prosthetic, ie. How tall is the 'pylon'? how far below the knee does it start etc.
Do you have a technical drawing of the prosethic, even if it is a generic one?

Additional information: the design needs a way to be put on and off the pylon. This means it must be easily removable. It won't be able to slip over the foot or socket so generally this means some kind of opening flexibility or mechanism to allow it to be attached and removed.

International standards for prosthetics tubes is 34mm HD, 30 mm Std, 22mm juvenile. So for this project I would suggest a target size of 30-34mm

Yes I will get those dimensions. The best option would be for the cover to connect to the 'pylon' which is the metal pole between the socket and foot. This is the most standard component across prosthetics. The socket that fits around the limb can have massive variance so probably isn't a good point of point of attachment.

3D Model of Small Gold Plant
I need a 3D model of a small scale gold plant. I intend to 3D print the model. There are 5 distinct components that need to be modeled: 1- the crushing module (http://www.mbmmllc.com/product/jaw-crusher-modules/) 2- the hopper module 3- the hammer mill (duplicated X2) 4- chutes (duplicated X2) 5- shaker table (duplicated X4) I am attaching a plant layout as well as real life pictures of the components. Human Skull Masterpiece - STL for 3D Printing

Long before Damian Hirst made his diamond encrusted skull, I made pilgrimages to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to look at the Holy-Grail of all skulls. The skull below was made in 17th century Germany and was carved from ivory. The softness and detail is extraordinary. More importantly, the surface is irregular. Its edges are imperfect, just as a real human skull would look after it is dug up from a grave. It is a masterpiece. It is anatomically perfect and it has an emotional gravity that is captivating. (Fortunately, ivory is banned but I also want to make a skull of my own, hence 3D printing.) I love the hand painted flowers and insects on them but, more importantly, I love the negative space in the jawbone, namely, the slightly opened mouth and missing teeth. As much as I love the Nymphenburg skulls, they are way too expensive and are a bit too pretty for me. They don't have the psychological weight that the ivory skull from the Met has. What I would love to do is create my own ceramic human skull using 3D printing. I would like the skull to be around 4" in height and around 6" at its deepest diameter. I would like it to be anatomically perfect inside and out. No detail left out. I wonder if it is possible through 3D printing to match or even exceed the perfection of the ivory skull at the Met but also whittle away at the 3D model to a perfect imperfection. Ceramic would give the skull a visual richness and a heft that plastic does not have. Also, if a few skulls could be made, I could paint my own insect world on them. Finally, I have included a Human Skull Anatomy Chart. It is quite exhaustive. I am sure a real human skull can be used to make the initial 3D model but any model would have to be as exacting as this chart. I would love to create a 3D skull that is indistingishable from a real human skull, only in mininature. I hope to get some interest from all of you. This contest can be tough. It would require getting a real human skull and doing a 3D scan of it. Then, once it's scanned, the artistry of the designer would take over; such as paying attention to the postive and negative space in the design, the details, and the imperfections that happen over time with a real skull that has been buried.
