Description:
Redesign of our medical storage bins and cover access methods. The overall industrial and mechanical design initiative should explore new methods and ways to reduce lid opening space. (See attached document for full details.)
Wants:
Looking for most unique and realist functional design that minimizes parts/cost while also meeting design objectives. Improved industrial design aesthetic is also an evaluation criteria.
Software:
- SolidWorks (2013)
Additional Information
Conceptual 3D Designs okay, complete full detail not required. Looking for multiple conceptual concepts. Rough 3D CAD okay, strict dimensional details not critical at this point. Just looking for multiple rough CAD innovative solutions/concepts.Entries

Came in late - Observations
这应该是微粒。这意味着no overhead hinge points, no pockets or gaps where P.M. can hide, cover should not rub on box when opening/closing, cover should open without hands or sleeves being over the top of products. I would use vacuum formed cups with smooth internal corners to hold the products. They are so cheap that they could be disposable is desired. This would eliminate 6 potential gaps for each compartment where P.M. would hide. Can I get my design in late?

Can you provide the wall thickness & weight of the bins?

Hi Jezdo,
Wireframe method and dimensions will most likely change based on new design, therefore, not critical at this point. Please feel free to generate your own basic wire frame. Please note, current wire diameter for wire frame is roughly 0.312 inches.
Thank you,
Rick

Could you provide dimensions of the current wire frame support.
I'll design the bin that compatible with your wire frame, so they will be swappable with current system.

The length and depth of the Bin overall sizes, are there internal dimensions or dimensions of the outer edges?

okay RickG the output will be in STEP.

Hi Mohammed,
PTC Creo would be ok, however, would need files output in STEP or IGES.
Thanks, Rick

Good day, Rick!
More than 3 weeks before the end of the contest.
I added his own version of the concept of bin last Sunday.
I was a bit changed version of your concept to account for the fact that the of bin should be placed in the table frame.
I want to ask you how you look at my option of bin concept.
Your improvement suggestions, comments, etc.
Is it necessary to further explain the concept of my of bin?

Rupak,
When placed on the work surface, bin top opening is parallel to work surface. When it is installed in the product it is at 30 degrees. Did this answer your question?

@ RickG,
Thanks for your reply with clear information.
In continuation of Q/A sl. No. 2; while the box in use, we have to place it only in the holder (wire frame) at the edge of the work surface or, we can also place it on the work surface at an angle of 30 degree?
Regards,
Rupak B.

Rupak,
1. The current product uses a vac form with a taper Angle of ~2 Degrees
2. When in use, it is set at 30 degree angle. When bin needs to be restocked, it is removed from its holder and placed flat on a table top with bin cover facing upward.
3. I don't think the bin assembly requires a handle. Typically, the worker uses both hands and picks it up the bin from the edges.

Dear RickG (Buyer),
I have few questions.
1. What is the Bottom Dimensions (Length & Width) or Bottom Taper Angle of the Box?
2. When in use, it will be laying on the working table at 30 degree angle?
3. It will require any handle like a basket?
Regards,
Rupak B.

Hey RickG, I have uploaded the stp files as well as 6 images illustrating various positions. Only 1 is visible here. Please let me know if all the 6 images are visible to you. Else please send me your email id, I will mail you as these are crucial to understanding the conceptual design.
Buyer
Dear Juan.N
Regarding the work space. The bin is removed from the work space for restocking of supplies. The wire frame is the current method to hold the bin & lid assembly while in use. Although we use the wireframe today to hold the bin at it's 30 degree angle, the wireframe is not of much importance because we will modify the method of holding and supporting the newly designed bin assembly (if necessary) based on the new design direction selected.

Is the workspace a must to be uninstalled when the bin is sent for refilling?
如果工作区连接,但可以继续not in used, is it acceptable?

Decker,
Cost is very critical, staying with a vac form tub would help with that aspect, and yes, staying with and aluminum cover could also be cost effective. Again, looking for innovative solutions with a strong focus on cost. Volume on these parts are fairly low, roughly 500 to 750 parts per year.

Angled Keyboard Slide
The design requires a clean simple method with minimized parts and manufacturing costs. Product is low volume, 250 to 500 pieces per year. We are interested in minimizing capital tooling costs. Design challenge is to design a keyboard slide platform that sits at a 32.5 degree angle (see attached documents). Keyboard slide needs to easily lock in upward position when not in use, and needs to easily be released and slide downward when in use. The keyboard slide is on a cart platform, so when the cart is being moved around, if it gets bumped, we do not want the keyboard slide to dislodge and slip into the down position.
SuperSuv to be hand built for personal use
Off/On Road Super SUV, 3 seater Central driving position like a Mclaren. Rear engined, removable roof which when not in use goes over engine bay. 26 inch rims. Very clean lines. Will use donor lights (pictures included in files). Car must be dramatic with very clean simple lines. Interior must be very simple and clean lines. I have uploaded many files for inspiration. Countach for rear. Corvette for door treatment. White lotus for air vents. Diablo for roof and body lines.
