I was in charge of designing and manufacturing the drivetrain assembly for the 2014 formula SAE prototype. The objective was to accomplish the integration of a Torsen T1 differential to a Yamaha YZ450F '08 motorcycle engine, in order to compete in the 2014 and 2015 Formula SAE Michigan competitions. The final design accomplished a 30% weight reduction in comparison to previous year's systems, being a fully functional and reliable assembly, actually used in 2 competitions successfully. -Used analytic methods to determine the design loads and the worst case scenario. -Developed an eccentric chain tensioning system, and used Solidworks and Excel to determine the best approach. -Designed the components of the transmission assembly using Solidworks. -Validated the structural integrity of the designed components using Finite Element Analysis in Solidworks Simulation, with static studios and fatigue analysis.
