Cycle - The Sustainable 3D Printer

Cycle 3D is a project created by Ash Bhimasani, Nihaar Narayan and myself. We wanted to direct 3D printing along a more sustainable and environmentally friendly route. 3D printers use plastic filament to create various objects. You can think of the plastic filament as a printer cartridge in a traditional printer. The plastic that 3D printers use is newly created in factories, and we wanted to decrease the demand for this by providing an alternative. To accomplish this, we worked to design a new 3D printer that could use recyclable plastics such as PET or HDPE, or even other 3D prints. The vision was this: a user could take recyclable plastic trash, dump it into the printer, and finally print any desired object. (hidden)
